I Want To Go To There: Met Costume Institute Gala

I don’t think I have ever seen a red carpet event that swarmed with pitch-perfect style than the Met Costume Institute Gala! Truly, there were only a few dresses I really disliked! A few trends were glaringly obvious: nudes and white, short hemlines for black tie and simple, sleek lines in solid colors. I would kill to attend this soiree! Here are my personal favorites–and the couple of dresses that I think should be lit on fire immediately.

THE BEST:

Sienna Miller is one of the most gorgeous women alive and she totally brought her A game, and her best accessory, on-again off-again BF Jude Law. Her Emilio Pucci F/W 10 collection dress had some edge with the plunging neckline and mullet hemline (casual in the front, formal in the back), yet still maintained a sexy high fashion look. HOT! The hair, makeup and accessories are all incredible as well were spot on as well.

The ever so poised, Emma Watson, look ah-mazing in her custom-made silk Burberry gown. Emma keeps proving over and over again that she is incapable of making a sartorial mistake

Anne Hathway (Valentino) and Jennifer Lopez (Zuhair Murad Couture) both brought in in the sparkly nude ball gowns. I can see these dress silhouettes being big this fall for weddings.

Zoe Saldana (Calvin Klein) and Amber Valetta (Roland Mouret Nikiya) looked ravishing in shades of blue. The dresses were simple but the cuts really made the difference.

Donna Karan, Taylor Swift (Ralph Lauren), and Diane Kruger (custom Calvin Klein) all looked fantastic in winter white gowns. But on a side note, I really think Taylor needs to change her look up a bit.

Sarah Jessica Parker (Halston) and Jessica Alba (Sophie Theallet) both looked divine in their champagne colored dresses.

The winner of bold colors go to Camilla Belle (Jason Wu) and Rachel Weisz (Oscar de la Renta).

More bold color choices and beautiful draping goes to Rachel Zoe (Marc Jacobs) and Kerri Washington (Thakoon for Gap). Rachel's dress would have most definitely been more attractive if the woman would just eat occasionally.

THE DO I OR DO I NOT

Ok, so I get Giselle (Alexander Wang). You just had a baby and you you're probably skinnier than your pre-baby body. However, I don't think that justifies your choice in dress. I just think this dress has the trying too hard to show off how super fabulous you are. But I do love the ponytail and smoky eye make-up. Next time I would just choose between leather or fringe.

Lately Marchesa's line has been a little too figure skater for my tasting. I don't think Serena (Blake Lively's Gossip Girl character) would be caught dead in this. Too tan, too tight, too short...too everything.

I love Christina Hendrick's (L'Wren Scott) va-va-voom figure but sometimes it's good to put some of the boobies away.

THE BAD

Kristin Stewart. It's not because every time she talks she seems like she is in some amount of awkward pain that just annoys me beyond belief- I can put that aside. I know she wants to be a vampire but there's no reason to have to dress like one. I still cannot believe this is Chanel!

What kind of prom nightmares did these dresses walk out of. I seriously thought Doutzen Kroes (Zac Posen) and Joy Bryant (Marchesa...ice dancer trend yet again) would have pulled out something more fabulous than these frou-frou monstrosities.
